Seoul recorded the highest average monthly salary at 4,765,000 won.
This is about 500,000 won higher than the national average.
What Is the National Average?
As of April 2025, the average monthly salary for employees (in businesses with at least one regular employee) nationwide
was calculated at 4,214,000 won.
This is based on the Ministry of Employment and Labor's 'April Regional Wage and Working Hours Survey.'
Seoul Employee Salary at 4.76 Million Won... 1.5 Million Won Gap With Jeju
The highest average monthly salary was recorded in Seoul at 4,765,000 won.
This is due to the concentration of high-paying industries such as information and communications, finance and insurance, and scientific and technical services.
Ulsan also recorded a similar figure at 4,750,000 won.
Meanwhile, Jeju, where accommodation and food service industries have a high share, had the lowest average at 3,279,000 won.
Seoul Also Tops Real Wage Rankings... National Average at 3.61 Million Won
The ranking for real wages, which takes inflation into account, was the same.
Seoul ranked first with 4,211,000 won, followed by Ulsan with 4,095,000 won.
The national average was 3,615,000 won.
Working Hours Vary by Region... 178 Hours in Chungnam vs. 168 Hours in Jeju
In April, the average working hours were 174.2 hours.
Regions with a large manufacturing sector, such as Chungnam (178.8 hours) and Gyeongnam (178.6 hours), had longer working hours.
Regions with a large service sector, such as Jeju (168.7 hours) and Daejeon (169.3 hours), had shorter working hours.
