Blackpink's Ros? has set a new record for the most nominations ever received by a K-pop artist at the 2025 MTV Video Music Awards (MTV Video Music Awards·VMA), earning nominations in a total of eight categories.

According to the list of nominees announced by MTV on August 5 (local time), Ros? was nominated for major categories including "Video of the Year" and "Song of the Year" for "APT.," her collaboration with pop star Bruno Mars. She was also nominated in the following categories: "Best Collaboration," "Best Pop," "Best Direction," "Best Art Direction," and "Best Visual Effects."

In addition, "toxic till the end," a track from her first solo studio album "rosie," was nominated for "Best K-pop," making it possible for her to win in a total of eight categories.

On the same day, Ros? posted on her social networking service (SNS), "I just heard that I was nominated in eight categories at the VMA. I'm so shocked that I can't even speak."

Other nominees for "Video of the Year" include Ariana Grande's "Brighter Days Ahead," Billie Eilish's "Birds of a Feather," Kendrick Lamar's "Not Like Us," Lady Gaga and Bruno Mars' "Die With a Smile," Sabrina Carpenter's "Manchild," and The Weeknd and Playboi Carti's "Timeless," alongside "APT."

The artist with the most nominations at this year's MTV VMA is Lady Gaga, who was nominated in 12 categories, followed by Bruno Mars, who received nominations in 11 categories.

In the "Best K-pop" category, all Blackpink members were nominated: Jennie with "like JENNIE," Jisoo with "earthquake," and Lisa with "Born Again," alongside Ros?. Other nominees in this category include aespa's "Whiplash," BTS's Jimin with "Who," and Stray Kids' "Chk Chk Boom."

HYBE's global girl group Cat's Eye was nominated for "Push Performance of the Year" with "Touch." This category selects the best performance among artists who participated in MTV's "Push" campaign.

Organized by MTV, the VMA began in 1984 and is considered one of the four major American popular music awards ceremonies, alongside the Grammy Awards, Billboard Music Awards, and American Music Awards. This year's ceremony will be held on September 7 at UBS Arena in New York.
