On August 1 and 4, the committee visited seven advanced mobile housing complexes and the Namhu Industrial Complex over two days to conduct on-site inspections, focusing on the stability of displaced residents' housing and the current status of damage recovery.

This inspection took place at a time when the supply of temporary housing had mostly been completed. The committee members closely examined the appropriateness of the design and construction of essential infrastructure such as electricity, telecommunications, and water and sewage systems, checked whether installations followed standard blueprints, and reviewed the progress of defect repairs.

In particular, they listened to residents' concerns through direct interviews and discussed possible improvements regarding future management and operation.

After completing the two-day site visits, the committee held its 7th meeting of the city council on August 5 and received a comprehensive report from the Andong city administration on all wildfire recovery operations.

The committee members reviewed the management of temporary housing, the speed of restoring damaged homes, and the implementation of landslide prevention measures, and actively called for improvements in areas where progress was insufficient.

When concerns were raised that the existing policy encouraging owners of completely destroyed homes to rebuild themselves could conflict with the plan to grant temporary housing residents priority in public auctions, the committee emphasized, "It is necessary to reach prior agreements with residents and ensure consistent administrative action to resolve policy inconsistencies."

Chairperson Lee Jaegap stated, "Issues that can be addressed immediately should be corrected without delay, and matters requiring institutional improvement should be discussed with the council to develop reasonable alternatives," adding, "The city must take a proactive approach to ensure the swift stabilization of residents' lives and the recovery of the region."

Meanwhile, Andong suffered significant damage in April when a large wildfire destroyed dozens of homes. Since then, the supply of temporary housing and infrastructure restoration has been proceeding in stages.

This on-site inspection is significant in that it marks the beginning of a full-scale response by the city council to ensure both a long-term recovery plan and the stabilization of the lives of affected residents.
