SK Telecom Appoints Former Judge Jaeheon Jung as New CEO

SK Telecom has appointed Jaeheon Jung, President of External Cooperation and an expert in law and governance within the group, as its new CEO.

On October 30, SK Telecom announced that Jaeheon Jung would take office as President and CEO. The new CEO, formerly a judge, joined SK Telecom as Head of the Legal Group in 2020, and participated as a founding member of SK Square in 2021, serving as Head of the Investment Support Center. Since then, he has overseen key divisions such as strategy, legal affairs, and finance, contributing to the restructuring of the company's management system.

Since 2024, as President of External Cooperation at SK Telecom, he has led all aspects of ESG, corporate relations, and public relations, while also serving as Chair of the Governance Committee of the SUPEX Council, the group’s highest decision-making body.

During his tenure, Jung established an "AI governance" system to ensure the reliability and safety of AI technology. He also took the lead in restoring customer trust and strengthening information protection systems following last year’s hacking incident. Regarding Jung, SK Telecom stated, "With his extensive public sector experience and key roles within the group-including Chair of the Governance Committee of the SUPEX Council, Head of the Investment Support Center at SK Square, and President of External Cooperation at SK Telecom-he is a professional manager with a legal background. We expect him to reinforce the organization’s fundamentals and principles, strengthen internal operations, and focus on restoring trust both inside and outside the company."

Meanwhile, in this round of appointments, SK Telecom has named Hanmyeong Jin, CEO of SK Square, as the head of the newly established Communication CIC (Company-in-Company). Han is recognized as a business leader who enhanced corporate value by driving portfolio rebalancing and improving profitability during his tenure at SK Square.
