With LG Display set to supply ultra-large displays for Mercedes-Benz's next-generation electric vehicles, the 'innovation partnership' between LG and Mercedes-Benz in the automotive electronics sector is entering a new phase.

According to industry sources on November 16, LG Display will provide a 40-inch ultra-large automotive display for the 2026 model Mercedes-Benz GLC EV. The Mercedes-Benz GLC EV is expected to launch in the North American and European markets in the first half of next year.

The product supplied by LG Display is reportedly a 40-inch LCD display based on oxide thin-film transistor (TFT) technology. Oxide TFT is a next-generation technology that enables high resolution, large size, and low power consumption in displays. This marks the first time an automotive display based on this technology will be used. The display is expected to be incorporated into Mercedes-Benz's next-generation infotainment system, the 'MBUX Hyperscreen.'

LG Display has maintained a close partnership with Mercedes-Benz for over 20 years, having started its automotive display project with the company in 2004. Since 2020, it has also been supplying plastic OLED (P-OLED) displays.

Of particular note, this achievement coincides with the recent visit of Mercedes-Benz executives to Korea. On November 13, Ola Kallenius, Chairman of Mercedes-Benz, met with major LG Group affiliates including LG Electronics, LG Display, LG Energy Solution, and LG Innotek at the LG Twin Towers in Yeouido, Seoul, to discuss strengthening strategic collaboration.

An LG Display representative stated, "We cannot disclose any information related to our clients."
