Production Company: "Fully Recognizing the Seriousness, Taking Follow-Up Measures"
The production company has issued an apology after controversy arose over the use of a prop resembling a German Nazi medal in the costume of actor Ju Jihoon, the lead in the upcoming Disney+ original series "The ReMarriage Queen," which is set to be released next year.
On November 15, Studio N, the production company behind "The ReMarriage Queen," released an official statement saying, "We sincerely apologize for any discomfort caused by our negligence in inspecting certain costume props that were recently revealed." The company added, "The production team is deeply aware of the seriousness of this matter and will carefully and thoroughly proceed with replacing the published photos and implementing follow-up measures to prevent recurrence."
The global online video platform Disney+ held the "Disney+ Original Preview 2025" event in Hong Kong on November 13, where it unveiled the first still cuts from "The ReMarriage Queen," which is scheduled for release next year.
However, afterward, posts began circulating on some social media platforms, including X (formerly Twitter), pointing out that the medal worn by actor Ju Jihoon in the photo closely resembles the German Nazi Third Class Gold Long Service Award.
In fact, when comparing photos of the two medals found by internet users, similarities can be seen in the cross-shaped design, the use of white and gold colors, and the red ribbon. In response, the production company acknowledged its oversight in inspecting props and promised to take follow-up actions.
However, it has not yet been decided whether the entire scene featuring the prop will be reshot, or if the existing footage will be used with only the problematic prop digitally removed.
"The ReMarriage Queen" is a romance fantasy drama set in the fictional Eastern Empire, where Empress Navier (played by Shin Mina) demands a divorce from Emperor Sovieshu (played by Ju Jihoon), who has fallen for the runaway slave Rashta (played by Lee Seyoung), and seeks to remarry Prince Heinley (played by Lee Jongsuk) of the Western Kingdom. Based on a web novel of the same name, the series features a unique world where emperors and empresses exist, and characters attend balls dressed in uniforms and gowns.
