Consumption Boosted by "Together Products 100" Special Exhibition and More
The Ministry of SMEs and Startups announced on October 14 that the September Together Festival recorded sales of 663.4 billion won over the course of one month.
The Together Festival is a nationwide consumption promotion event held both online and offline, aimed at revitalizing domestic consumption and boosting sales for small business owners. In this September’s festival, direct sales amounted to 630.7 billion won from online sales events and 32.7 billion won from offline sales events. In addition, 485.6 billion won worth of Onnuri gift certificates and 241.2 billion won worth of Local Love gift certificates were sold.
In particular, the online sales event saw participation from 27,000 companies, including e-commerce platforms, TV home shopping channels, and traditional market malls, generating a total of 630.7 billion won in sales. The "Together Products 100" special exhibition, held on LotteON and Coupang, featured food and beauty products as representative items.
The offline sales event generated a total of 32.7 billion won in sales through 144 local events and policy stores. The September Together Festival increased the proportion of events in non-metropolitan areas (76%) and regions with declining populations (24%) to expand the reach to local markets and consumers in those areas.
The opening ceremony of this September’s Together Festival was held as a side event of the APEC SME Ministerial Meeting, taking place at the Jeju International Convention Center from August 30 to September 5. The event attracted 18,000 attendees, and during the two-day sales event from August 30 to 31, 51 small business owners from Jeju participated, achieving sales of 85 million won.
Various consumption promotion events, such as the Win-Win Consumption Lottery, also proved effective. The Win-Win Consumption Lottery is an event where customers who spend over 50,000 won by card at traditional markets and small businesses are entered into a draw to win a total of 1 billion won in digital Onnuri gift certificates. This event ran from September 1 to October 12, with a total of 10 million participants. In addition, seven TV home shopping companies (including Public Home Shopping, Home&Shopping, and NS Home Shopping) hosted special exhibitions and prize events.
Choi Wonyoung, Director General for Small Business Policy, stated, "I would like to express my deepest gratitude to everyone who participated in the September Together Festival. At the end of October, the government plans to integrate existing discount festivals such as the Together Festival, Korea Sale FESTA, and Duty Free FESTA into a large-scale, nationwide discount event called the Korea Grand Festival. We will prepare thoroughly to ensure it provides real benefits to the public."
