Pension Business Introduces "Cleaning Free" Option
Some Argue, "Unfair Practices Must Be Corrected"

Despite high accommodation prices relative to the facilities, customers are required to handle post-stay cleaning tasks such as washing dishes and sorting recyclables themselves, leading to growing dissatisfaction with the cleaning culture at pensions. Amid this, a pension business has sparked controversy by introducing a paid option.

Recently, several online communities have featured a paid option under the title "An Option Introduced at a Pension." The option, called "Cleaning Free," was described as "How about a leisurely morning? You don't need to clean before you leave." The price is 37,000 won.

This additional cleaning option emerged as debates over "Pension Usage and Check-Out Rules" have been spreading online. In June, a netizen who identified themselves as a pension owner shared their experience, saying, "When I told a guest that dishes must be washed before check-out, the customer became extremely angry."

When another netizen commented, "Why do I have to wash dishes myself even after paying for the stay?" the pension owner replied, "Then please do not come to our pension. You must wash the dishes you used before checking out."

As this post gained significant attention, heated debates erupted online over whether it is reasonable for guests to pay for accommodation and still be required to wash dishes, sort recyclables, and tidy up bedding themselves.

Online users reacted with comments such as, "I'll just go to a hotel," "Check-in is late, check-out is early, and now I have to clean too?" and "Does it make sense that I have to clean more thoroughly than at home?"
