Choi Suyeon, CEO of Naver, and Jung Shina, CEO of Kakao, have both been ranked among the top positions on Fortune's list of the "100 Most Powerful Women Leaders in Asia."


On October 7, Fortune announced its selection of the 100 most influential women leaders in Asia, with Naver CEO Choi Suyeon ranked 8th.


Choi Suyeon climbed 10 spots from last year’s 18th place, making it into the top 10.


Fortune highlighted, "Now in her second term, Choi Suyeon is focusing on integrating artificial intelligence (AI) into Naver’s core services," and added, "Naver is also dedicating efforts to the development of 'Sovereign AI.'"

Jung Shina, CEO of Kakao, also made significant progress, ranking 24th and entering the top 30. Last year, Jung was ranked 45th.


Fortune reported, "Kakao operates KakaoTalk, the most widely used messaging app in South Korea, with 49 million monthly active users," and noted, "Jung Shina is leading efforts to combine the company’s services with AI through a new collaboration with OpenAI, the developer of ChatGPT."


Other Korean women business leaders on the list include Kim Minyoung, Vice President overseeing Netflix’s Asia-Pacific business (49th); Lee Sunjeong, CEO of CJ Olive Young and the youngest female CEO in CJ’s history (57th); Seo Sungseok, founder and chairman of Cosmax (82nd); and Lee Sugyeong, President of P&G’s global cosmetics business (88th).
