Recently, American media outlet Oddity Central and other foreign news sources reported that Russia's luxury car dealer Alexey Mercedes has released a sports car for children.

This vehicle is a scaled-down model, approximately half the size of the original, based on the legendary "300SL" (also known as SL300) produced by Mercedes-Benz in Germany during the 1950s. The price reaches 4 million rubles (about 68 million won), which is comparable to a domestic mid-size sedan or a Mercedes-Benz C-Class.

This car is not just a toy; it is an electric vehicle that can actually be driven on the road. Equipped with a 1.5 kW electric motor, it can reach a top speed of 45 km/h and has a maximum load capacity of 120 kg, making it suitable for both children and adults. The manufacturer promotes it as "a luxury toy not only for kids but also for adults."

The original Mercedes-Benz 300SL was first unveiled at the 1954 New York Auto Show and is considered one of the most iconic sports cars in automotive history. Even today, it is a coveted classic, fetching over 2 million dollars (about 3 billion won) at classic car auctions.

The SL300 was the world's first mass-produced car to feature fuel injection, boasting a top speed of 260 km/h and earning the nickname "the dream sports car." Its unique gullwing doors, which open upward, were initially designed to overcome structural limitations but later became a symbol of Mercedes-Benz design.

The newly released mini SL300 for children is seen as a modern reinterpretation of this legendary design and symbolism, going beyond a simple toy to be regarded as a "restoration of a classic."

The exterior faithfully replicates the original 300SL, including side exhausts, dashboard, switches, and the Mercedes emblem, as well as the iconic gullwing doors. The interior is also equipped with luxury features such as adjustable leather seats, an aluminum dashboard, a gear mode selector, a subwoofer, and functional lighting, rivaling the quality of real vehicles.

The mini SL300 is being sold in limited quantities within Russia. Alexey Mercedes is known for establishing a unique position among automotive enthusiasts by producing and selling not only real vehicles but also high-end miniature replicas.
