Spotted Resting with Bare Feet on Chairs and Tables
"Let's At Least Show Some Manners," Netizens Criticize
Some Koreans were spotted sleeping with their bare feet up on chairs and tables in the lounge at Da Nang International Airport in Vietnam. On the 16th, a post titled "An Embarrassing Scene at the Da Nang Airport Lounge... My Face Turned Red" was uploaded to an online community. The author, identified as A, wrote, "A few days ago, I witnessed a rather embarrassing scene at the Da Nang airport lounge. Everyone seemed exhausted, probably from having fun and waiting for a late-night flight, but these people, who appeared to be Korean, were sleeping with their feet up on the chairs right next to them."
A person presumed to be Korean is lying down with their legs stretched out into the seat next to them, which is meant for someone else to rest. Online community

A commented, "There weren't many foreigners, but those present looked baffled, and it was also quite embarrassing for the Vietnamese staff working there. It's understandable to rest when you're tired while traveling, but at the very least, some manners are needed in shared spaces."
He went on to say, "Just because a country is less affluent than ours doesn't mean we can behave however we like. Have you seen scenes like this abroad? I hope Koreans can show good manners and set a great example wherever we go." Readers who saw the post commented, "I hope they're not Korean," "People always criticize Chinese tourists, but this looks no different," and "This is why people say 'Ugly Korean.'"
Meanwhile, according to the General Statistics Office of Vietnam, about 17.6 million foreign visitors came to Vietnam last year, with Koreans accounting for approximately 4.57 million (26.0%), surpassing Chinese (about 3.74 million) and Taiwanese (about 1.29 million) visitors. Da Nang, in particular, is such a popular destination among Koreans that it is sometimes jokingly called "Gyeonggi Province Da Nang." In early August, Da Nang even hosted the "2025 Korean Tourist Appreciation Week," organized by the Vietnamese Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, to celebrate surpassing 1 million Korean tourists.
