Applications Open Until October 17
Enhancing Hygiene and Service Standards
Yeosu City in South Jeolla Province (Mayor Jung Kimyung) announced on September 17 that it is currently recruiting 100 "2026 Yeosu World Expo Designated Accommodation Establishments" to welcome tourists ahead of the 2026 Yeosu World Expo.
The application period runs until October 17, and only establishments with no record of administrative sanctions in the past two years are eligible to apply. Applicants will undergo a document review and on-site inspection, with the final selections to be made in December.
The evaluation criteria consist of four categories: facility standards, safety, room and hygiene, and service and operations. Selected accommodations will receive a designation plaque and hygiene supplies, and will be featured and promoted on the city's official website to ensure tourists can use them with confidence.
A city official stated, "Taking the opportunity of the 2026 Yeosu World Expo, we will systematically manage and support designated accommodations to enhance the region's tourism image and improve hygiene service standards," adding, "We will do our best to ensure the successful hosting of the Expo."
