Uber Taxi announced on the 16th that it has launched the senior-customized services "Uber Senior Account" and "Simple Mode" in South Korea.

The Uber Senior Account is a service introduced by Uber globally to respond to the aging population trend. It simplifies the taxi-hailing and boarding process so that seniors who are not familiar with using smartphones can easily use taxi services. The font size in the Uber Taxi app has also been increased.

The Uber Senior Account can be created when a family member, such as a child, sets up a family account in the Uber app and invites their parent or grandparent. Seniors can call and pay for taxis themselves, or their family members can do so on their behalf.

Family members can track the parent’s or grandparent’s journey in real time through the Uber app and contact the driver directly if necessary. Frequently visited places, such as home, hospitals, or welfare centers, can be saved for quick taxi hailing.

With this launch, Uber Taxi’s "Family Account" now includes not only the Uber Teen Account for teenagers but also senior family members.

An Uber Taxi representative stated, "Although taxi-hailing apps have become commonplace in Korea, which has entered a super-aged society, many seniors still find them difficult to use, which is why we introduced the Uber Senior Account." The representative added, "Following last month’s launch of the Uber Teen Account, this service will ensure safe and convenient transportation for beloved family members."
