Now in its 17th year, the Pocheon Citizen Award is the city’s highest honor, presented to citizens who have devoted themselves to the development and unity of the local community and have made significant contributions in various fields.

This year’s review recognized eight recipients across seven categories: Jang Dongwon, a calligrapher from the Pocheon Cultural Center, for the culture and arts category; Jo Chunhaeng, president of the Pocheon Mountaineering Federation, for sports; Lee Mikyung, principal of Ildong High School, for education and academics; Kim Dokyeom, president of the Pocheon Residents’ Autonomy Association, for regional development; Kim Heedong, CEO of Jeongdong Ranch, for agriculture; Yang Sungjong, president of the Pocheon Model Drivers’ Association, and Kim Seungjin, president of the Pocheon Love Sharing Association, for social service; and Lee Jeongsu, CEO of Daeju Food, for industrial economy.

Mayor Baek Younghyun stated, "The Pocheon Citizen Award is a meaningful honor given to those who illuminate and lead our community," adding, "I hope the dedication and achievements of the recipients will become widely known and serve as an inspiration to even more citizens."

Meanwhile, the 2025 Pocheon Citizen Award ceremony will be held on October 12 during the Pocheon Citizens’ Day celebration, where the recipients will be honored in a festive event together with the citizens.
