The Daegu Seobu Police Station announced that at around 7 p.m. on September 10, they arrested a man in his 60s, referred to as Mr. A, on suspicion of attempting to lure a minor.

At approximately 1 p.m. that day, Mr. A approached an elementary school girl, referred to as Miss B, near a market in Pyeongni-dong, Seogu, and tried to lure her by saying, "Let's go eat Jajangmyeon." However, the attempt failed when the child refused.

The incident was reported about three hours later by the victim's mother. Police immediately launched an investigation, secured nearby closed-circuit television (CCTV) footage, identified the suspect, and successfully apprehended him after tracking his movements.

A police official stated, "The child and guardian reported the incident promptly, which helped prevent further harm," adding, "We are investigating the exact motive and circumstances surrounding the crime."

Amid a series of attempted child luring incidents in the region, concerns are growing within the local community, with calls for urgent strengthening of safety measures around schools and institutional improvements.
