The iPhone Air, which features the thinnest and lightest design in iPhone history, has a thickness of 5.6mm and weighs 165g. In comparison, the slim competitor, Samsung Electronics’ Galaxy S25 Edge, measures 5.8mm in thickness and weighs 163g.
Apple stated, "We wanted to create an iPhone that feels like it came from the future," adding, "We aimed to make it so powerful, thin, and light that you barely feel it in your hand."
To achieve both thinness and durability, Apple used grade 5 titanium and wrapped the front and back of the frame with a ceramic shield to prevent scratches and cracks. Space was secured for a large-capacity, high-density battery that enables up to 27 hours of video playback, and the device is equipped with the A19 Pro chip, boosting its performance to a professional level.
According to Apple, the newly introduced A19 Pro chip features the fastest central processing unit (CPU) and the most advanced graphics processing unit (GPU) ever in a smartphone. Compared to the iPhone 14 Pro, the CPU is up to 40% faster and the GPU up to 70% faster. As a result, high-end games, Apple Intelligence, photo editing, and other advanced features run smoothly.
The rear camera lens of the iPhone Air is a single lens, but Apple explained that it functions as if it combines multiple high-end cameras into one. It can capture ultra-high-resolution photos at 48MP for detailed shots or use the default 24MP setting, and it also offers a built-in 2x telephoto lens.
Additionally, the front camera, which is mainly used for selfies and video recording, is expected to become more convenient. The newly added 'Center Stage' feature automatically widens the field of view, allowing users to take landscape selfies even when holding the iPhone vertically. When more people join a photo, the field of view automatically expands, making group shots easier.
When recording selfie videos, the device reduces shake and recognizes the user’s face for stable shooting. A new 'Dual Capture Video' feature has also been added, enabling simultaneous recording with both the front and rear cameras.
The iPhone Air starts at 1,590,000 won for the 256GB model, with pre-orders beginning at 9 p.m. on the 12th. The official release date is the 19th.
