Cooperation with Mongolia and the Asia Forest Cooperation Organization
Yuhan Corporation has signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) as part of an international cooperation project to prevent desertification in Mongolia and achieve carbon neutrality, in celebration of the 35th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Korea and Mongolia. This agreement is a multilateral official collaboration involving the Mongolian government, the Asia Forest Cooperation Organization (AFoCO), and the local NGO "Billion Trees." The project aims to restore the ecosystem by rehabilitating the area damaged by wildfires in Batsumber, located 70 kilometers northwest of the capital city Ulaanbaatar.

원본보기 아이콘This initiative is expected to deliver tangible results in addressing Mongolia's severe desertification issues and responding to the climate crisis. In particular, by restoring the ecosystem of the wildfire-affected area and establishing a community-based forest management model, the project aims not only for short-term restoration but also to develop into a sustainable forest conservation system.
The signing ceremony was held on the morning of the 8th at the AFoCO Secretariat in Yeongdeungpo-gu, Seoul. Attendees included Yuhan Corporation CEO Cho Wookje, AFoCO Secretary-General Park Jongho, Mongolian Forest Agency Director Oyunsanaa, Billion Trees CEO Boldbataar, Mongolian Ambassador to Korea Sukhbold, and Munkhbat, Non-Standing Advisor to the Office of the President of Mongolia.
CEO Cho stated, "This cooperation is a meaningful first step in responding to the climate crisis across borders and will serve as an international cooperation model for preventing desertification and restoring ecosystems in Mongolia. As Yuhan Corporation approaches its 100th anniversary, we will continue to fulfill our corporate social responsibility and do our utmost to build a sustainable future together with the Mongolian government and the Asia Forest Cooperation Organization."
Meanwhile, Yuhan Corporation has been engaged in a variety of activities to preserve local ecosystems and enhance biodiversity, including biodiversity promotion along the Miho River in Ochang, the "One Company, One Forest" initiative, and tree planting at Noeul Park.
