The Korea Exchange will unveil three new theme indices related to artificial intelligence (AI) on September 8. The names of these indices are the "KRX Sovereign AI Index," the "KRX-Akros AI Power Infrastructure Index," and the "KRX AI Semiconductor Index."
These indices were developed in collaboration with Akros Technologies, a domestic fintech startup specializing in AI, using a large language model (LLM)-based keyword analysis method. This marks the first time the exchange has jointly developed indices in cooperation with a domestic index provider.
First, the "KRX Sovereign AI Index" consists of 27 stocks related to AI infrastructure, AI software, AI semiconductors, and AI energy, all closely linked to the concept of sovereign AI.
The "KRX-Akros AI Power Infrastructure Index" is composed of 15 stocks related to the power grid sector, such as transformers and cables, which are expected to see increased investment due to surging power demand driven by AI, as well as power infrastructure sectors like energy storage systems and nuclear power.
The "KRX AI Semiconductor Index" comprises 20 stocks from the semiconductor value chain that are closely connected to the AI industry, including high bandwidth memory (HBM) required for AI training, inference, and large-scale data processing.
The exchange stated, "These three new indices cover the entire AI industry ecosystem, including AI semiconductors and AI infrastructure. They are expected to serve as underlying indices for financial products such as exchange-traded funds (ETFs), providing investment opportunities across all core areas of the AI industry."
They added, "Based on this case of advancing methodologies by integrating AI technology, we plan to continue supplying differentiated new concept theme indices in a timely manner, reflecting changes in industrial structure and market demands."
