JYJ Kim Jaejoong to make big screen debut with Song Ji-hyo

K-pop group JYJ’s Kim Jaejoong is set to kick start the next chapter of his career by appearing in his first local film with actress Song Ji-hyo, according to their agency C-JeS Entertainment.

The pair are teaming up for a comedy movie tentatively titled, “The Jackal is Coming” and the leading actors have already finished the script reading session, C-JeS told 10Asia in a phone interview on Monday.

“Kim will play one of the top singers in Korea and Song is to play the Jackal,” she explained while describing the two main characters.

While everything is set to go, “The Jackal” is likely to go into shooting next month, aiming for its premiere in September of this year.

Jackal is known as a professional killer who was hired to assassinate the president of Charles de Gaulle in France.

His story has inspired many novelists and film producers to recreate the story in fiction and nonfiction books, comic strips and international movies, including the 1997 suspense film “The Jackal,” starring Bruce Willis.

Meanwhile, Kim is teaming up with Hallyu actor Song Seung-heon and KBS' "SungKyunKwan Scandal" star Park Min-young for forthcoming TV series "Timeslip Dr. Jin" (tentative title) set to air on May 26.
